Indian cuisine is renowned around the world for its intense yet intricate flavours and incredible variation, and this itinerary gives you the chance to sample as much of it as possible. During the course of your trip you will visit Delhi, Mumbai, Agra, Jaipur, and many other destinations, sampling the local dishes and even trying your hand at making the dishes yourself with some cooking demos included. In between meals there will be plenty more to keep you occupied, with there being the chance to enjoy sightseeing, visiting some of India’s most iconic buildings such as the Taj Mahal. Get a real taste of India and pick up some valuable new cooking skills sure to impress everyone back home.

The best time to travel to India is from December to March when the temperatures are cooler and drier. Autumn from October to November is also a popular time to visit. 


Day 1: UK Departure
Depart on your overnight flight to Delhi

Day 2: The Claridges, Delhi (BB)
Arrive in Delhi and be met and transferred to The Claridges hotel where you will be staying for the next 2 nights. Delhi is considered by many to be the food paradise of India and you will soon discover why, enjoying your first meal tonight at Bukhara Restaurant. The food at Bukhara is cooked in clay ovens or tandoor in the traditional style of the Indian North-West Frontier region by chefs who have trained meticulously for many years.

Day 3: The Claridges, Delhi (BB)
This morning you will have the chance to enjoy a sightseeing tour in Delhi, taking in sights such as Jama Masjid which is the largest mosque in India and Raj Ghat, a memorial to Mahatma Ghandi. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant (direct payment) before proceeding to drive past the India Gate and other significant buildings, then visit Humayun’s Tomb and Qutab minar. This evening you will have the chance to enjoy an interactive cooking demo with a local family and dinner at The Saffron Palate.

Day 4: ITC Mughal, Agra (BB)
This morning transfer to the rail station and board a train to Agra, be met upon arrival and transfer to the ITC Mughal where you will be staying overnight. Today you will have the chance to see Agra’s most iconic sights Agra Fort and the Taj Mahal, before enjoying a feast on a selection of Indian and international grilled options in the evening under the stars at the Roof Top restaurant of hotel Four Points by Sheraton, which overlooks the Taj Mahal.

Day 5: Diggi Palace, Jaipur (BB)
This morning you will be transferred to Jaipur, stopping enroute to visit Fatehpur Sikri a ghost city of palaces &, unique architecture. Upon arrival in Jaipur check into the Diggi Palace where you will be staying for the next 2 nights. This evening you will enjoy a walk through a fantastic local food market, starting at the iconic Hawa Mahal and continuing for 2 and a half hours browsing and sampling the delicious culinary delights: pakoras, aloo tiki, samosa, sweets, and much more.

Day 6: Diggi Palace, Jaipur (BB)
This morning drive past Hawa Mahal and on to Amber Fort , an extremely well preserved structure that is a delight to explore. This evening is reserved for a special cooking lesson and dinner at Dera Mandawa with the current custodian Thakur Durga Singh.

Day 7: Rawla Narlai, Narlai (BB)
Today you will leave Jaipur and transfer to the village of Narlai and the Rawla Narlai where you will be staying for the next 2 nights. The rest of the day is at leisure so settle into the hotel and perhaps familiarise yourself with the local area.

Day 8: Rawla Narlai, Narlai (BB)
After breakfast enjoy a village walk near the hotel and then have the rest of the day to spend at leisure. This evening you will have the chance to enjoy another cooking demo followed by dinner.

Day 9: Trident Nariman, Mumbai (BB)
Today you will be transferred to the airport in Udaipur where you will board your flight to Mumbai. Upon arrival be met and transferred to the Trident Nariman where you will be staying for the next 2 nights. In the evening, you will be picked up at seven and taken to a Chowpatty, where among the melee of crowds, you will get to see and sample various street foods. From Pani Puri, Sev Puri, Golas to Pav Bhaji and Mumbai sandwich, Mumbai Street food has evolved over the years and is a great mirror into the effervescent and ever-changing culture of the city.

Day 10: Trident Nariman, Mumbai (BB)
This morning you will enjoy a half day excursion to the island of Elephanta where you can see cave temples that were excavated between the 5th and 8th Century AD famous for their beautifully sculpted panels.

This afternoon enjoy a city tour including visits to Prince of Wales Museum and Mani Bhawan. Drive past the colonial buildings like High Court, Sessions Court, University and Museum Buildings, Tower of Silence and the beautiful Jain temple.

Day 11: Old Harbour, Kochi (BB)
This morning transfer to the airport for your flight to Kochi, upon arrival be met and transferred to the Old Harbour hotel where you will stay overnight. Later, you will visit Chinese fishing nets followed by a visit to the spice market. In the evening you will have the chance to witness a classical Indian dance show, Kathakali, which originates from Kerala in the 17th Century. Following this performance you will enjoy a South Indian dinner hosted at the popular restaurant The Grand.

Day 12: Kumarakom Lake Resort, Kumarakom (BB)
This morning drive to Mattancherry where you can view the oldest Jewish synagogue in India, followed by a visit to the Dutch Palace. After sightseeing, enjoy a Dosa lunch at a local restaurant. Later, proceed to Kumarakom and check in for your stay at Kumarakom Lake Resort. To end the day enjoy a sunset cruise at Lake Vembanad.

Day 13: Kumarakom Lake Resort, Kumarakom (BB)
Today is to be spent at leisure so perhaps relax and explore the area. Alternatively, as an optional extra we can arrange for you to enjoy a cooking Demo and learn the nuances of the local cuisine followed by Lunch at Philip Kutty’s Farm, located on a small farm island in the backwaters.

Day 14: Departure
Today transfer to Cochin International Airport for your flight home.
