Our thoughts

This regal three-story Victorian luxury hotel has welcomed many international personalities: from British royalty to Rudyard Kipling, Somerset Maugham and other members of the literary intelligentsia. It still maintains the same high standard to all guests.

Decadent to sleep in and close to all the delights Yangon has to offer.

  Dining

The Strand Cafe

Decorated with teak-framed windows looking out onto scenic Strand Road, The Strand Caf'e is a charming corner from which to observe the city's bustle. Tile floors inlaid with teak, dining chairs of sturdy egg-cane rattan and black-lacquered ceiling fans add that magical bygone-era accent. Breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner are served daily, with the menu featuring both western and Burmese cuisine.

The Strand Grill

The Strand Grill is, without a doubt, one of Yangon's finest dining rooms. Enriched with large black-lacquered prints from Bagan and sparkling chandeliers, the restaurant exudes the grandeur of the 1920s and '30s.

Open for dinner only (and lunch on request).

The Strand Bar

One of Yangon's most popular bars for the past century, The Strand Bar is a must for locals and travellers alike. Indulge in the legendary Strand Sour and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere.

The Lobby Lounge

Marble floors, lofty ceilings and colonial finish make this lounge an elegant gathering place for business or leisure. While local musicians play the Burmese harp and xylophone daily, guests can kick back and enjoy a delicious afternoon tea.

Superior Suite

Elegant furniture with local art and antiques, king size bed and one separate sitting room make this type of accommodation a comfortable and classy retreat. Sofas, high ceiling, polished teakwood floor, spacious bathroom and separate bathtub are some of the superb features the room provides. All suites are serviced by a team of butlers, 24-hours a day.

Deluxe Suite

Local art and antiques decorate these marvellous rooms fitted with a king size bed or 2 queen size beds. Separate sitting room with sofas, high ceiling, polished teakwood floor and spacious bathroom are among the superb amenities of this accommodation. A team of butlers is available 24-hours a day.

Executive Suite

These three 65 metre riverside retreats are the most glamorous accommodation in town. Boasting polished Burmese teak wood floors, soaring ceiling, colonial fans and luxuriously oversized picture windows, they provide a very poetic atmosphere. The spacious living area suits a relaxing break for afternoon tea, or an evening's snuggle as the tropical sun sets, while the marble counter-top bathroom with soak bathtub offers unique moments of sheer indulgence.

Strand Suite

The Strand Suite - a 200 square metre paradise - features a large 4-posted bed in the master bedroom along with a junior study and a sumptuous bathroom. The spectacular living room with butler's pantry provides a great space for unwinding, whilst a separate, fully enclosed parlour decorated with cosy rattan furnishings add that charming accent which is the perfect setting for an afternoon tea.
