The best time to visit North India is between November and March when the weather is dry and temperatures most bearable.


Day 1: Maidens Hotel, Delhi (BB)
Arrive in Delhi this morning after your overnight flight and be met and transferred to the Maidens Hotel where you will be staying for the next 2 nights. The rest of your day is at leisure to recuperate after your travels, so settle into the hotel or even get out and start exploring the nearby area.

Day 2: Maidens Hotel, Delhi (BB)
Today you will get your first real glimpse of India as you embark on a full day tour of Delhi after breakfast. You will have the chance to take in so many of the city’s incredible sights, with highlights being India Gate, Qutub Minar and Humayun's tomb. You’ll also have the chance to enjoy a rickshaw ride through the markets of old Delhi before visiting Raj Ghat and Ghandi Smriti.

 

Day 3: Hyatt Amritsar, Amritsar (BB)
It’s time to leave Delhi today as you head to the airport for your flight to Amritsar. Upon arrival once more be met and transferred to your hotel, this time the luxurious Hyatt Amritsar where you will stay for the next 2 nights. Rest up and refresh before enjoying a traditional Palki ceremony at the Golden Temple.

Day 4: Hyatt Amritsar, Amritsar (BB)
This morning following breakfast you will have the chance to enjoy another tour, this time a half day tour of the sights of Amritsar. You’ll have the chance to see the Golden Temple once more, as well as the Volunteer Kitchens and Jallianwala Bagh, the harrowing scene of the 1919 massacre. Early in the evening proceed to Wagah Border Point for the ‘Changing of the Guard’ ceremony.

 

Day 5: Chonor House, Dharamshala (BB)
Rise this morning and be transferred by private vehicle to Dharamshala and more specifically Chonor House where you will be staying for the next 2 nights. Upon arrival check in and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.

At the heart of the Tibetan culture, Dharamshala, also known as 'Little Lhasa' is beautifully set on the Dhaula Dhar Range, overlooking the Kangra Valley. This is where the Dalai Lama made his home after fleeing Tibet in 1959, and there are many interesting sites to be visited in the region.

Day 6: Chonor House, Dharamshala (BB)
Today you will have the chance to enjoy some sightseeing in the area, visiting McLeod Ganj, the Tibetan Monastery, Tibetan Museum & Norbulinka Tibetan Art Centre. You will also have the opportunity to experience the Naddi Village Walk.

The rest of your day is at leisure so you can visit any of the other sites that strike your interest.

 

Days 7 - 8: Judges Court, Pragpur (BB)
Travel onwards to Pragpur today as you are transferred by a private vehicle this morning to the Judges Court hotel where you will spend the next 2 nights. Once you have checked in, freshen up before spending your afternoon exploring the Heritage Village of Pragpur.

Founded about 3 centuries ago Pragpur has held onto the essence of an earlier era, with unchanged shops, cobbled streets, ornamental village tank, mud plastered and slate roofed houses.

 

Day 9: The Oberoi Cecil, Shimla (BB)
It is time to depart Pragpur today and continue to Shimla, with a private vehicle transferring you to The Oberoi Cecil where you will be staying for the next 3 nights. En-route to the hotel you will have an opportunity to make a photo-stop at Garli village; a notified heritage village with a medieval ambience and interesting heritage buildings.

Upon arrival at the hotel check in and have the rest of your day at leisure.

Day 10: The Oberoi Cecil, Shimla (BB)
Today you will have the chance to visit the nearby village of Kandaghat, enjoying a scenic ride both to and from the village on the toy train.

Once you have returned back to Shimla pay a visit to the Vice-regal Lodge, the place where the division of India and Pakistan was planned. Admire the beautiful architecture as you tour the buildings.

After lunch, enjoy a leisurely stroll back along the Mall to Scandal Point. En route, it may be possible to have a quick look inside the Gaiety Theatre or Christ Church. Alternatively, find a spot for refreshments whilst viewing snow-capped Himalayan peaks.

Day 11: The Oberoi Cecil, Shimla (BB)
Your final full day in Shimla is to be spent at leisure so you can continue to discover the wonders of the local area, or relax and enjoy the facilities at your luxurious hotel.

 

Day 12: Holiday Inn Aerocity, Delhi (BB)
Head back to Delhi today, boarding a train at Kolkata Railway Station on which you will also enjoy dinner. Upon arrival be transferred to the Holiday Inn Aerocity for an overnight stay before departure tomorrow.

 

Day 13: Departure
Be transferred to the airport today for your flight back to the UK.
