From the bustling city, you'll head to the jungles of Borneo for fantastic wildlife viewing opportunities - not to mention the colourful birdlife! Walk, hike or simply enjoy the sounds of the lush forest. Then spend some quality time basking in the sun on the pristine beaches of Gaya Island with a fabulous marine national park to explore.
This itinerary combines jungle adventures and guided walks within the pristine conservation area of Danum Valley, wildlife, activities and a beach extension in a natural setting of coral reefs, mangroves and rainforest.

The best time to visit Borneo is between March and October.
Day 1: UK Departure
Overnight flight to Kota Kinabalu.
Day 2: Shangri La Tanjung Aru hotel
Upon arrival transfer to Shangri La Tanjung Aru Hotel and enjoy the rest of your afternoon at leisure.
Day 3: Borneo Rainforest Lodge
Early morning fly to Lahad Datu. After lunch embark on a nature trail including the “Canopy Walkway”.
After dinner a briefing and a slide presentation on the surrounding area before taking a night drive in an open air jeep in search of nocturnal animals such as deer, civets, lizards, birds, orangutan, elephants and butterflies.
Day 4: Borneo Rainforest Lodge
Today trek to the Kadazandusun burial site “Coffin Cliff” and the “View Point” for a bird’s eye view of the area. Descend to the Jacuzzi pool to cool off.
After lunch take a guided jungle trek along the Hornbill Trail and after dinner enjoy a “Night Walk” in search of nocturnal animals
Day 5 - 11: Gaya Island Resort, Sabah
Today fly to Kota Kinabalu and continue by boat to Gaya Island.
Gaya Island Resort is set within the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park off the coast of Kota Kinabalu. The resort offers beautifully decorated villas and suites made from local materials with spectacular views of the surrounding area. As well as the usual water based activities, guests are offered the opportunity for guided rainforest tours. You’ll spend a luxurious week at leisure on the beach or enjoy the many activities which the resort offers.
Day 12
Transfer to the airport for your onwards flights.
