With Myanmar still relatively undiscovered, it would be difficult not to feel a sense of adventure when you visit - and this itinerary embraces the spirit of the magnificent country. With a diverse range of transport from boat trips, balloon rides, bicycle tours, train journeys, and even a short trip on a horse cart, this itinerary takes you through the vibrant cities and untouched villages of the Shan state. You will get the chance to immerse yourself into the local culture, with visits to local markets and encounters with the local people to learn about their traditions and customs. You will also visit the vast array of temples, pagodas, monasteries and caves synonymous with Myanmar.

November to February are the recommended months to visit Myanmar, missing the monsoon season and the worst of the heat.


Day 1: UK Departure
Overnight flight to Yangon.

Day 2: Governor’s Residence, Yangon (BB)
Arrive at Yangon airport, meet your representative and transfer by private vehicle to the hotel to check in for a two night stay.

Afternoon at leisure to explore the city or relax at the hotel.

Day 3: Governor’s Residence, Yangon (BB)
Today enjoy a full day private city tour of Yangon. Highlights include Botataung Pagoda, Sule Pagoda, Bogyoke Aung San Market, Kandawgyi Park and an evening visit to the Shwedagon Pagoda.

Day 4: Thiripyitsaya Sanctuary Resort, Bagan (BB)
Early morning transfer by private vehicle to Yangon airport to board a short flight to Bagan. Upon arrival at Bagan, meet your representative and transfer by private vehicle to the hotel to check-in.

Enjoy a full day private tour of Bagan. Highlights include Nyaung Oo market, Shwezigon Pagoda, Kubyaukgyi Temple, Htilominlo Temple and an evening sunset cruise on the Ayeyarwady River.

Day 5: Thiripyitsaya Sanctuary Resort, Bagan (BB)
A full day private tour of the nearby villages and temples. Highlights include Myinkaba village, Manuha Temple just located near the village, a lacquer ware workshop, a horse cart to Ananda Temple and the mural walls of Ananda Oakaung which are located in the remains of a monastery complex.

Day 6: Inle Princess Resort, Inle Lake (BB) 
Early morning transfer by private vehicle to Bagan airport to board a short flight to Heho. Upon arrival at Heho, meet your representative and transfer by private vehicle to the hotel, a journey of one hour to check in for a 2 night stay.

Sightseeing today includes Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, Ngaphechaung Monastery, the stilted village of Inn Paw Khon, a traditional weaving workshop, Nampan Village, a cigar, boatyard and blacksmiths workshop.

Day 7: Inle Princess Resort, Inle Lake (BB) 
Today enjoy a private boat trip to the famous market of Inle Lake, visit the lakeside village of Indein and finish at the Shwe Indein Pagoda.

Day 8: Ta Mae Monastery, Pindaya (BB)
Early this morning set off on a balloon ride, this includes a picnic breakfast and a visit to the local market after the balloon sets down. In the afternoon transfer by private vehicle to Pindaya followed by a bicycle tour of the village.

Day 9: Royal Kalaw Hill Resort, Kalaw (BB)
Early this morning take a hot air balloon ride over Pindaya with breakfast included. In the afternoon explore the  Pindaya Caves and finish with a picnic lunch in the countryside.

Transfer by private vehicle to Kalaw to check in for a 2 night stay.

Day 10: Royal Kalaw Hill Resort, Kalaw (BB)
Enjoy a full day visit to the Green Hill Valley Elephant Camp. Lunch is included and you have the opportunity to interact by feeding and bathing the Elephants.

Day 11: Mandalay Hill Resort, Mandalay (BB)
Morning transfer by private vehicle to Heho airport to board a short flight to Mandalay. Upon arrival at Mandalay, meet your representative and transfer by private vehicle to the hotel to check in for a 1 night stay.

A full day private city tour of Mandalay. Highlights include Mahamuni Paya statue, a bronze casting workshop, Shwenandaw Monastery, Kuthodaw Pagoda, a gold leaf beating workshop and a stop at Mandalay Hill for panoramic views.

Day 12: Hotel Pyin Oo Lwin, Pyin Oo Lwin (BB)
Morning transfer by private vehicle to the colonial hill station of Pyin Oo Lwin, a stop en route is made at the local flower market. Lunch is on your own account however the local guide will be happy to make local restaurant suggestions.  You may also choose to visit the Kandawgyi National Gardens.

Arrive late afternoon and check into the hotel for a 1 night stay.

Day 13: Mr Charles River View Lodge, Hsipaw (BB)
Morning train to Naung Pein, a journey of 4 hours. Continue by road to Hispaw by private vehicle stopping en route at the  Bawgyo Pagoda.

Day 14: Mr Charles River View Lodge, Hsipaw (BB)
Today embark on a 4 hour guided walk around the Hispaw area. You get the opportunity to view local businesses and cigar workshops and visit the Shan Palace and the Hnee Pagoda.

Afternoon at leisure.

Day 15: Mandalay Hill Resort, Mandalay (BB)
Embark on a six hour road journey to Mandalay by private vehicle. A stop en route is made at U Bein Bridge which is made of teak wood. Check into the hotel for a 1 night stay.

Day 16: Departure
Transfer to Mandalay airport to board your flight home.
