Starting in Yangon, you’ll have the chance to explore the different sights and wonders of this city, before heading on to Bagan where you will board the luxurious Sanctuary Ananda for a 3-night cruise. Along the way you will have the chance to stop off and visit different cultural and historical sights, as well as be able to enjoy different activities and workshops on board as you cruise along – this is sure to be the highlight of the trip. However, your holiday doesn’t end when the cruise does and you will get to spend an additional few nights exploring the beautiful Inle Lake and even fit in a flying visit to Bangkok. The best time to go to Myanmar is between November and February where you can avoid the sweltering heat of March - May and the monsoon season of June - October.
 


Day 1: UK Departure
Depart on an overnight flight to Myanmar.

Day 2: The Belmond Governor’s Residence (BB)
Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to the Belmond Governor’s Residence where you will stay for the next 2 nights. The rest of the day is to be spent at leisure so perhaps begin exploring the nearby area, there is plenty to see and do in Yangon, or alternatively check out the facilities on offer at this luxurious hotel.

Day 3: The Belmond Governor’s Residence (BB)
Today you will have the chance to enjoy a private half-day city tour of Yangon, Yangon is full of beautiful cultural and historical sights and this is a great way to take in all of the highlights. The rest of the day is to be spent at leisure to you can choose to continue exploring on your own or return to your hotel and enjoy the facilities and activities there.

Day 4: The Sanctuary Ananda (FB)
Wake early today and make the transfer to Bagan to arrive at the Sanctuary Ananda in time to check in and enjoy lunch aboard the ship. After lunch you will have the chance to enjoy your first excursion with a visit to the Kayminga pagoda complex before heading to the golden Shwezigon Pagoda which is said to contain important relics of the Gautama Buddha. You will then have the chance to witness a sunset over the plains of Bagan before attending a welcome briefing and champagne reception followed by candlelit sandbank dinner.

Day 5 The Sanctuary Ananda (FB)
This morning you will have the choice of enjoying an early morning balloon tour (to be booked in advance at an additional charge) or a visit to the bustling local market of Nyaung U. Following this you will head to see the Ananda temple, considered by many as one of the most beautiful temples in Myanmar. After this return to the ship to begin sailing towards Saigang, meanwhile enjoying a variety of on board activities and later a delicious dinner at the Talifoo Restaurant.

Day 6: The Sanctuary Ananda (FB)
Today you will have the chance to enjoy a back-of-house tour and cooking class with the ship’s executive chef as you cruise the Ayeyarwady. In the afternoon you’ll reach Saigang Hill, an important religious and monastic site that is scattered with pagodas, here you will get to visit a monastic school and orphanage and have the opportunity to meet some of the residents and understand the teachings of Buddhism. Afterwards, take in the breath-taking views from the top of the hill on the terraces of the Soon U Ponya Shin Pagoda. You will head past Amarapura before arriving in Mandalay to take in the sunset on the U-Bein Bridge, before heading back to the ship for dinner.

Day 7: Inle Princess Resort (BB)
Early this morning Sanctuary Ananda will sail north to the quaint village of Sin Kyun, a village just north of Mandalay, the perfect setting to mingle with the local Burmese people and discover what modern life is like in an ever-changing Myanmar. After you depart from the cruise you will be transferred to Inle Lake where you will check in for a 2 night stay at Inle Princess Resort.

Day 8: Inle Princess Resort (BB)
Today is to be spent at leisure, perhaps explore the immense natural beauty of the Inle Lake area on a boat tour and get a feel for the traditional way of life by watching the local fishermen go about their days, be sure to pay a visit to a floating garden as well.

Day 9: The Siam (BB)
Today you will fly to Bangkok for a one night stay at the Siam, while it might only be a flying visit be sure to explore some of Bangkok if you get the chance or if not simply make the most out of the hotel’s amazing facilities.

Day 10: Departure
Depart on a daytime flight to the UK.
