Day 1: UK Departure
Depart London Heathrow on overnight flight to Singapore
Day 2: Borobudur
Connect with onward flight to Yogyakarta and on arrival travel to stay for overnight at Plataran Heritage Borobudur
Day 3: Yogyakarta
Enjoy guided tour of the stunning temple complex at Borobudur, one of Southeast Asia’s most impressive sites before travelling to Yogyakarta to visit the Sultan’s Palace, the Taman Sari (Water Castle), and Pasar Beringharjo, Yogyakarta’s oldest traditional market.
Stay for two nights in Yogyakarta at Hotel Tentrem
Day 4: Kaliopak
Travel to Kaliopak for a private cycling through verdant rice paddy fields to the Buddhist temple complex at Plaosan. Continue to the 9th century Hindu temple compound of Prambanan and return to Kaliopak to view see the art of producing and painting buffalo hides. Enjoy lunch in a local restaurant and then return to Yogyakarta.
Day 5: Bromo
Travel by scenic train ride to Mojokerto in East Java frpm where you will be transferred to Bromo to stay overnight at the Plataran Bromo.
Day 6: Mount Bromo
Awake early in the morning for a sunrise tour of Mount Bromo. Travel by 4WD jeep to a viewing spot with stunning views of Bromo volcano and its surroundings. Watch sunrise from behind the volcano in Penanjakan -a truly unforgettable experience, and one of the most photogenic occasions to be had anywhere in Asia.
Afterwards, continue by jeep down to the volcano caldera, often still covered by mist in the early morning. The mist, combined with the grey ashen-covered ground form to create an unusual atmosphere, often compared to the surface of the moon.
Return by horse and jeep to the hotel for breakfast. Check out and continue by road to Banyuwangi via Probolinggo to stay for two nights at Dialoog Banyuwangi.
Day 7: Mount Ijen & Kaliklatak Plantation
Awake early this morning for an excursion to Mount Ijen. After 90 minutes drive reach the Paltuding Base Camp and trek onwards to the top of Mount Ijen, a large crater lake surrounded by sulphur mines.
Return to base camp and continue by road to the former Dutch Plantation of Kali Klatak to enjoy a delicious traditional lunch and a tour to learn about the production and harvesting of cacao, coffee, pepper and rubber.
Day 8: Lovina Beach, Bali
Travel by local ferry for a scenic journey across to Gilimanuk on Bali’s western shores.
Continue by road to Lovina, one of Bali’s renowned volcanic black sand beach destinations, and visit the Buddhist temple and monastery of Brahmavihara Arama before staying overnight at The Lavina.
Day 9: Ubud
Start the morning with a visit to the Pura Beji, a temple famous for its beautiful stone carvings and for being the largest ‘rice temple’ in Bali before travelling along the winding mountain roads to stop at the temple of Pura Puncak Penulisan for amazing 360-degree cloud-shrouded views across the valley.
Continue to the crater village of Kintamani for lunch before continuing to Ubud in the centre of Bali to stay for two nights at the Como Uma Ubud.
Day 10: Ubud
Begin today by photographing the lush rice terraces of Tegalalang and visiting the Blanco Renaissance Museum, the former home of Bali’s most famous artist before taking lunch at a local restaurant with views along the Ubud River. After lunch travel to the Ubud Monkey Forest, spending time at the Ubud Art Market, and enjoying an early-evening Balinese dance performance.
Day 11: Kertagosa & Besakih
Travel to Klungkung to visit the former Royal Court of Justice known as Kertagosa before the excursion continues along small, scenic roads to Besakih, which is known as the ‘Mother Temple’ of Bali and is located on the western slopes of Mount Agung. After lunch pay a visit to Tirta Gangga Water Palace, which boasts many decorative ponds, fountains, lush plant life and natural bathing pools, and then nearby Taman Ujung Water Palace.
Continue to the less-visited east coast of Bali to stay overnight at the Alila Manggis.
Day 12-14: Gili Trawangan
Travel to the nearby harbour in Padang Bai for a speedboat crossing to the island of Gili Trawangan to stay for three nights at Villa Ombak.
Free time at leisure to perhaps relax on the beach, take a bike ride around the island, or enjoy a snorkelling trips or glass-bottom boat excursion.
Day 15: Departure
Transfer by boat to Lombok airport for your onward flight to the UK
