Best time to go

Sri Lanka is a year round destination depending on which side of the island you choose.  The South West and North East have different weather patterns, but the peak time for the best weather is December to mid-April. Travelling in the shoulder seasons, particularly July to August has many advantages.


Day 1: Depart UK
Depart London Heathrow on an overnight flight to Colombo.

Day 2: Colombo
Transfer by private vehicle to the hotel for overnight stay.

Enjoy a private afternoon city tour, to include a visit to Fort, the bustling centre of town, monuments such as the President’s Residence, Cargills and Millers, the old lighthouse, the historic Davatagaha Mosque, and the city’s oldest Dutch Church, the Wolvendhaal.

Day 3: Sigiriya
Travel to visit Yapahuwa, one of the capitals of medieval Sri Lanka, before continuing onwards to Sigiriya for a two-night stay.

Overnight: Water Garden

Day 4: Sigiriya
A major highlight today of the trip with the chance to climb the Sigiriya Rock Fortress, the country’s most memorable single attraction. A fortified city with moats, ramparts and gardens, this is a must-see for any visitor to Sri Lanka.

Enjoy a traditional village visit in the afternoon, including a bullock cart ride, cookery demonstration and typical lunch.

Overnight: Water Garden

Day 5: Kandy
Travel by private vehicle to Dambulla to view the cave temples, adorned with hundreds of rock paintings of Buddha and many kings and deities. Continue south to Kandy, the hill capital of Sri Lanka, for a two-night stay.

Visit the Temple of the Tooth, the third holiest Buddhist site in the world.

Overnight: Adigor’s Manor

Day 6: Kandy
Start the day with a private city tour of Kandy. This beautiful city, surrounded by hills and valleys, rivers, lakes and cascading waterfalls is also home to the Royal Botanical gardens at Peradeniya. The afternoon is free before a Kandyan cultural dance performance is enjoyed in the evening.

Overnight: Adigor’s Manor

Day 7: Hikkaduwa
Travel to the Dutch colonial city of Galle, famous for its UNESCO-protected Fort, to enjoy a city tour before continuing to Hikkaduwa for two-night stay.

Overnight: Aditya Resort

Day 8: Hikkaduwa
The final day is at leisure to relax on the beach or perhaps to take a trip to Mirissa, one of the best places in the country to go whale-watching.

Day 9: Departure
Transfer to Colombo airport for your onward flight to the UK
