Day 1: Four Seasons Amman (BB)
Depart the UK on a flight to Amman. Once you arrive you will be transferred by private vehicle to the Four Seasons Amman where you will stay for the next 2 nights. The Four Seasons Amman is among the most luxurious that Jordan offers, with bright and airy rooms along with a range of excellent facilities that are to be taken full advantage of.
Day 2: Four Seasons Amman (BB)
Today you will have the opportunity to enjoy a private tour of the city of Amman. The tour will show you many of the different historical and cultural sites of the city, with highlights including a visit to the Citadel, National Museum, Roman Amphitheatre, Folklore Museum, King Abdullah’s Mosque, and Jerash.
Day 3: Movenpick Petra (BB)
This morning you will travel by road to Petra, visiting Madaba, Nebo, and Shobak along the way. There are some fascinating sites to be visited on the journey, including Mount Nebo, one of the most revered holy sites of Jordan where according to the Bible Moses was buried. You will also have the chance to see the Greek Orthodox Church of St. George in Madaba, where the historical Madaba Mosaic Map covers the floor. Finally, less than an hour north of Petra you will get to see Shobak Castle, a reminder of former Crusader glory. When you arrive in Petra you will then check into the Movenpick Petra for a 2-night stay.
Day 4: Movenpick Petra (BB)
Today you will get to enjoy a full day visit to the red rose city of Petra, where there are many incredible sights to be seen. Just walking through the Siq is an experience in itself; the colours and formations of the rocks are simply dazzling. Be sure not to miss Al-Khazneh, also known as ‘The Treasury’, and the many tombs that have been intricately carved directly into the rock face. The amphitheatre built by the Nabataeans is another must see location, carved directly into the hillside this giant theatre could seat up to 3,000 people.
Day 5: Sun City Local Camp (FB)
On day five you will head to Little Petra for a visit, another impressive archaeological site. Continue to Wadi Rum for a 90-minute jeep ride. This is an incredible and timeless place that remains virtually untouched by humanity. Instead, it is the weather and winds that have carved the imposing, towering skyscrapers, described by T.E. Lawrence as “vast, echoing and god-like”. A maze of monolithic rock-scapes rises up from the desert floor to heights of 1,750 metres creating a natural challenge for serious mountaineers. You’ll then enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at Sun City Local Camp.
Day 6: Movenpick Aqaba (BB)
Today you will depart by road to Aqaba, where you will enjoy a tour of the city upon arrival. Later on, you will check into the Movenpick Aqaba for an overnight stay.
Day 7: Movenpick Dead Sea Hotel (BB)
For your final few days in Jordan, you will head to the lowest point on Earth to visit the Dead Sea, checking into the Movenpick Dead Sea Hotel for your final 2 nights. The main attraction of the Dead Sea is the soothing, abnormally salty water itself. The salt content of the water is 31.5% making the water so buoyant that it is impossible for the visitor to sink, be sure to enjoy the unique sensation of floating atop its surface.
Day 8: Movenpick Dead Sea Hotel (BB)
This morning is one to be spent at leisure, so perhaps make use of some of the hotel’s facilities before going on an afternoon visit to Bethabara, or Bethany as it is also referred to. The sites in this area formed part of the early Christian pilgrimage route between Jerusalem, the Jordan River, and Mount Nebo.
