Best time to go
Sri Lanka is a year round destination depending on which side of the island you choose. The South West and North East have different weather patterns, but the peak time for the best weather is December to mid-April. Travelling in the shoulder seasons, particularly July to August has many advantages.
Day 1: UK Departure
Take an overnight flight from London Heathrow to Colombo.
Day 2: Uga Residence (BB)
Upon arrival at Colombo Airport you will be transferred by private vehicle to the Uga Residence, Colombo for an overnight stay, the rest of your day will be spent at leisure so you can relax after your flight and enjoy the hotel’s facilities, or get out and explore Sri Lanka’s capital city.
Day 3: Uga Ulagalla (BB)
This morning you will be transferred by private vehicle to the wondrous city of Anuradhapura, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the journey will take approximately 3.5 hours and should be the longest you will have to undertake while in Sri Lanka. Once you have checked in your afternoon can be spent at leisure enjoying the hotel’s facilities or exploring the local area.
Day 4: Uga Ulagalla (BB)
Your fourth day is yours to do with as you please. Anuradhapura is known for its ruins and religious sites, so perhaps opt for a guided tour of these for an educational day out that will teach you much about Sri Lanka’s rich culture and history while also affording you some great sights
Day 5: Uga Ulagalla (BB)
Today is another spent at leisure; perhaps choose to take advantage of some of the activities offered by the resort. You could opt for one of the nature walks where you can see a wide variety of birds as well as some other wild creatures, or a village bicycle excursion, although bear in mind this lasts for 2 hours so may be a little tiring for younger children.
Day 6: Uga Bay (BB)
This morning you will make the transfer to your next destination Pasekudah by private vehicle, a journey lasting approximately 3 hours. Upon arrival you will check into Uga Bay where you will spend your next five nights. The rest of your day is to be spent at leisure so you can settle into the hotel and have a little wonder round the nearby area.
Day 7: Uga Bay (BB)
Spend your first full day in Pasekudah however you please. You may wish to have a treatment in the underground spa, or perhaps pay a visit to the beautiful beaches that the area is known for. These beaches are particularly good for children as the waters are calm and shallow meaning you can paddle and play safely.
Day 8: Uga Bay (BB)
We recommend taking further advantage of the brilliant coastal location today and getting into the water for some snorkelling or scuba diving for those with older children. The reef found close to the beach is a great place to snorkel; meanwhile if you venture out a little further you can scuba dive and see the shipwrecks that lie on the ocean floor.
Day 9: Uga Bay (BB)
Today is another one at leisure. We recommend taking part in some water sports and renting some jet-skis from the hotel, or instead you may wish to fish for Trevally jack and Grouper.
Day 10: Uga Bay (BB)
For your final full day in Pasekudah you may want to get out of the water and find out what activities are offered on land. Perhaps take a trip to some of the local villages and markets and get a feel for local life.
Day 11: Uga Residence (BB)
Today you’ll depart by road to Batticaloa Airport to take a 90 minute seaplane to Colombo, a journey that is sure to excite children. You will return to Uga Residence for your final night.
