Top 5 Secret Beaches in South East Asia

Top 5 Secret Beaches in South East Asia

When you think of South East Asia images of soft white sand and sparkling, clear blue water comes to mind. However, you are lucky to find one of these glorious beaches that has not been completely taken over by backpackers hunting for a fishbowl or a row of 5-star resorts. Beaches such as Boracay in the Phillippines and Thailand's Maya Nay have been closed indefinitely last year due to the impact of tourism on the now polluted waters. We have searched and scoured for some of the most beautiful, untouched beaches where you can live out your dream destination fantasy, but remember to keep them to yourself.

Siargo - The Phillippines

Nestled in the South East of the Philippines there are some of the most stunning, untouched beaches that Southeast Asia has to offer. The island of Siargo has become the ultimate secret destination for surfers and travellers alike. It is the perfect mix of calm vibes, warm water and surf breaks. For those who would love to learn how to surf or simply want to enjoy the beauty of this island's beaches, this should definitely be on your bucket list.

Lombok - Indonesia

Unlike many of the islands of Indonesia, the island of Lombok has not yet been invaded by the tourism trade, unlike its neighbouring island Bali which is just a boat ride away. When researching into this island the most popular beach is 'pink beach,' named after the coloured coral that has been crushed into the sand. If you are looking for a more remote area where it is rare to see any other human in sight, Tanjung Aan is the place for you. A wide landscape of crystal clear turquoise water and fine white sand makes this picturesque spot look more like the Carribean than Indonesia. If you would love to take a dip in the warm waters on the island, there is a second bay on the other side with slightly calmer waters.

Krabey Island - Cambodia

Just a 14-minute boat ride from Cambodia's coast. Six senses have taken over this 30-acre private island in the Koh Rong Archipelago. This tropical landscape is made up of just 40 free-standing pool villas on a private beach, this destination will show you a completely unique side of luxury.

The Perhentian Islands - Malaysia

Beloved by backpackers, the smaller island Kecil is adorned with warm, turquoise water and white sand beaches. If you are interested in diving,  sharks and turtles are frequently spotted on dives as well as a large variety of species that call the warm water home. Our top tip for getting the change to swim with the islands reef sharks is to snorkel off Turtle Beach around 8 am.

Binh Hung - Vietnam

From its century-old lighthouse to floating lobster restaurants and rocky-shoreline oyster farms, Binh Hung is sort of like a tropical Nova Scotia. This island usually flies under the radar due to the little amount of information about it online. You cannot stay on this island but it is only a 10-minute boat ride from Vinh Hy-Binh, so make a day of it, we recommend trying the lobster from the local restaurants as it is a speciality on the island.
