Best time to go

Sri Lanka has generally good weather year round but does have two monsoon seasons in two different regions. From late May to late September, the southwest lowlands and central hills are affected and from November to February, the northeast side of the island is affected. March to mid-April is generally dry throughout the country as is June to September though it is hot.

Our thoughts

These bungalows are steeped in old world luxury, and sit four to 15 kilometres apart among rolling green hills and lush tea plantations. They offer serenity and seclusion as well as trekking, biking, water rafting, rock climbing, and golf nearby. The bungalows feature butler service, croquet lawns, and a summer house as well as a resident tea planter to show guests the centuries' old tea making process.

  • Complimentary WiFi available in all bungalows

  Dining

The Restaurant - Tea Trails adheres to time honoured planters' traditions with roaring fires and the spicy flavours of Sri Lankan nibbles as well as scrumptious afternoon high teas. In the evening, a four course dinner is served that is both contemporary and colonial with garden fresh ingredients.

The Tea Trails consists of four bungalows, each of which offers something different. The Summerville offers the air of a country cottage while Castlereagh has an eclectic style all its own. The high colonial Teintsin is one of the first planter's residences built in Ceylon while the Norwood has a modern feel and abounds with 60's character. Each bungalow comes with its own manager, chef, butler, and household staff.

  • Tea experience

Children are welcome here but since this is a tranquil hideaway are asked to be quiet inside bungalows so as not to disturb guests.
