The monsoon season occurs between November and February so the Malaysian east coast is best avoided during this time of year as the rains are quite heavy and some of the resorts close until March. March to September would be the prime time.
Our thoughts
This resort is located on a 17-hectare site with an expansive stretch of private beach on the northeast coast of Peninsular Malaysia. It features an excellent dive school, virtually untouched rainforests for hiking and wildlife spotting, and a nearby village. The reefs of Terengganu Marine Park are approximately 45 minutes from the resort and offer spectacular snorkelling and diving opportunities.

Di Atas Sungei - Di Atas Sungei means "Above The River" and befitting the name, the restaurant literally sits above a river that flows into the South China Sea. The restaurant offers no menu and employs Menu Masters to guide guests through a distinctive dining experience using only the freshest and highest quality produce. The restaurant serves authentic Malaysian cuisine for breakfast and dinner.
Nelayan - Nelayan means "Fisherman" and befitting the name, the restaurant's specialty is seafood. The restaurant sits by the sea and has a relaxed and informal atmosphere in which it serves a variety of Asian and Western light meals for lunch and Western cuisine for dinner.
Private Dining - For intimate dining experiences, the resort offers a selection of stunning locations.
Bumbung Room - These rooms are located on the upper floor of double storey units facing either the tropical landscaped gardens or the sea and feature a king sized bed and luxurious en-suite bathroom.
Serambi Room - These rooms are located on the ground floor of double storey units and feature a king sized bed and spacious indoor bathroom with two vanity units and a separate bathtub and shower. A partially covered veranda is ideal for a private BBQ dinner and overlooks the tropical gardens.
Serambi Sea View - These rooms feature panoramic views of the South China Sea and a spacious en-suite indoor bathroom with two vanity units and a separate bathtub and shower.
Anjung Room - These rooms feature a king sized bed as well as a sofa bed, a canopied terrace that extends into lush gardens with views of the sea, and a symmetrical sunken outdoor bath in a private courtyard as well as an indoor bathroom with two vanity units and a large indoor shower. These rooms are ideal for a romantic honeymoon.
