Ask ten people what comes to mind when they think of Argentina, and you’ll most likely get ten different answers. For some, it’s a country of fine wine and great steak; for others, its a wonderland of spectacular scenery and incredible flora and fauna. It is the birthplace of tango and polo, and home to one of the world’s greatest football teams.
A country that spreads from the Andes to the Atlantic Ocean and from the Tierra del Fuego to the tropics is defined by its incredible natural diversity. A country whose countless landscapes include soaring mountains, giant salt pans, captivating wine estancias in the shadow of the mighty Andes, thundering jungle waterfalls, arid deserts and translucent blue glaciers. The vast grassy plains of Pampas where you can ride all day without seeing another person, the bustling life of the barrios of Buenos Aires, the lunar landscapes of the northwest, and the astounding marine life of the Valdes Peninsula or the Ibera wetlands the endless experiences that this bewitching country offers is boundless.
So whether you’re looking for culture, adventure, wildlife or an intoxicating combination of all three, Argentina will seduce you with its cocktail of mind-blowing experiences.

Argentina as a whole can be visited year round, however, December - March is the best time to visit Patagonia and south of Argentina, as it is more easily accessible during this time. Buenos Aires is nicer during the cool & crisp months of July & August. For the flowers in the Lake District September - November is the perfect time with wildflowers in full bloom. Autumn (March-May) is best for enjoying the vineyards around Mendoza, to see the gold and copper coloured vines against the magnificent backdrop of the Andes.
Best time to go
Because Argentina is so geographically diverse, the best time to visit depends on where you want to go, and what you want to do.
For example, the best time to visit the subtropical north and northeastern areas of the country is during the winter, when the weather is less humid. Conversely, the best time to visit Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego is during the summer, when these sub-polar regions benefit from slightly warmer temperatures. For skiing, the best season is between June and August, when the snowfall is at its heaviest; whereas Mendoza’s famous wine festival usually takes place in March.

Argentina is a gastronomer’s paradise, with a culinary culture that revolves around meat. If you’re a vegetarian, however, it’s a good idea to learn enough Spanish to be able to converse with the waiter about your requirements, or to check a restaurant’s menu before sitting down to eat. Before booking your Argentinean holiday, it is imperative that you decide which season best fits your interests and itinerary. If you plan to travel around the country, make sure to bring clothing for all seasons regardless of the time of year.
