Seasons

Greece has a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and the bulk of their rainfall over winter.

Summer: July and August with temperatures from 30-35°C. There is a cooling wind called the “Meltemi” which blows along the east coast during this time offering relief to the high temperatures.

Best time to go

July and August are the peak travel months with hot temperatures and travellers heading to the islands and coast. Popular tourist sights in Athens will be crowded in August. June and September are also popular, but some islands in the north may not be open to tourists
