Days 1-3:

Depart London Heathrow and fly to Rio de Janeiro and upon arrival meet the transfer to boutique Santa Teresa Hotel for three nights. While in Rio, take a glass cable car tour up Sugar Loaf Mountain. The first cable-car takes passengers to the top of Urca Hill, which rises 215 meters above sea level and offers spectacular views of the entire bay its islands. From Urca Hill, passengers continue in a second cable car to the top of Sugar Loaf which rises 395 meters and has a spectacular view of the entire city; including Botafogo and Copacabana Beaches, the Corcovado and downtown Rio. On the following day journey through the dense Tijuca Atlantic Rainforest to the statue of the Christ the Redeemer atop the Corcovado hill, it’s quite a climb but well worth it when you reach the top. Days 4-5:

Fly from Rio de Janeiro to Manaus and transfer to the Tropical Manaus hotel for two nights stay. As well as being an ideal point of departure for visiting the rest of the Amazon Region there is also the impressive Municipal Market built in the beginning of the 20th century and various cultural and historical sites to visit. One of the highlights of the area is a boat tour to see the Meeting of the Waters whilst spotting dolphins, during the excursion there will be a chance to explore the riverbanks and "igarapes", swim and canoe in placid lakes or simply walk in the lush dense forest. Days 6-7:

Transfer to the Amazon Eco Park Lodge for the following two nights, upon arrival in the Amazon, embark on a guided walk through the dense vegetation discovering the vast amount of innate plants and animals. Visitors will also have the opportunity to visit a local Amazonian Tribe, to observe their culture, rituals and customs. In the evening, after dinner, guests can head on an alligator hunt in motorised canoes, accompanied by the guide you will learn all about these age old creatures. (FB)

Days 8-10:

After breakfast at the lodge, visit a rehabilitation centre for primates brought there when they were confiscated from illegal sales and exports. The centre provides a safe and monitored rehabilitation process, so that can be reintroduced to the jungle.

In the afternoon transfer to Manaus airport and fly to Salvador; upon arrival meet the transfer to Villa Bahia Pousada for three nights. During your stay in Salvador discover the essential historical sights on a half day tour tracing the development of the city from its simple beginnings to the what is now the third largest city in Brazil, journey through elegant tree-lined avenues and bustling city streets to the Pelourinho, a Unesco Heritage site and the largest complex of colonial architecture in the South America. In the evening enjoy a local theatrical performance and dinner in a traditional restaurant. The Bahia Folklore Company (Balé Folclórico da Bahia) is one of the most respected folklore dance troupes in the world. The company performs in the intimate Miguel Santana Theatre in the Pelourinho in a seamless presentation of the multiple African traditions that underpin Bahian culture.

On the second day board a comfortable schooner yacht and cruise to two of the 36 islands in this sparkling bay, enjoy rest filled day relaxing and taking in magnificent views of the city. The first stop is Frades (or Monk's) Island, the virtually uninhabited island is home to some of the best beaches in the bay. Whilst anchored here guests have ample time to swim in the warm inviting waters or relax in the sun. The boat then continues cruising to the larger island of Itaparica for lunch. This old colonial town of Itaparica is just a short distance by local transport for those interested visiting the charming waterfront town before returning to the mainland. (BB)

Days 11-12:

Fly from Salvador to Belo Horizonte from where guests will transfer to the historical town of Ouro Preto for two nights stay at the Solar de Rosario. From the hotel there will be a day’s excursion to the enchanted city of Mariana; walk down the picturesque streets past many houses dating back to the beginning of the 18th Century. This historical city is a picture of traditional architecture and has many fascinating sights to visit, including the Cathedral, Sacred Art Museum and the Pillory. (BB)

Days 13-14:

Fly from Belo Horizonte airport to São Paulo and meet a connecting flight to Iguassu Falls for a two night stay at Das Cataratas Hotel. From the hotel guests can explore the Iguacu National Park. Stroll the trails descending the canyon and admire the magnificent views of more than 240 falls and take the glass lift up the cliff face for an exquisite view of the tumbling waterfalls from the upper platform. The Iguassu National Park along with its sister park in Argentina form the most significant remaining rainforest in the southern cone of South America which along with the waterfalls has been declared a National Heritage Site by UNESCO. The following day, embark on a tour to the Argentinean side of the National Park where you can visit the upper walkways for a closer look at these majestic falls and the rainforest, as well as the chance to stand on the suspended platform at the very edge of the abysmal Devil’s Throat, which is the largest waterfall. Day 15:

Travel to Cataratas airport and fly to Rio de Janeiro, from there meet the connecting flight back to London Heathrow.
