Laos has great weather and can be visited all year round, but it will be rainier in the summer season and colder in the winter months, especially further north.

Our thoughts

This lodge is a rare gem and an absolute treasure to visit. The eco-lodge principles have ensured that the surrounding natural environment and local culture are integrated into the daily life enhancing the experience for all. With only 10 rooms there is plenty of privacy, and exploring the indigenous forest or the nearby village and rice paddies gives a great insight into Laotian life and the surrounding environment. What better way to spend a few days relaxing in luxury than at this quaint riverside haven, champagne in hand and savouring the brilliantly lit sunsets.

  Dining

The Transient Restaurant has a concept of ‘transient’ dining, which means you can take your meals wherever you like. The cuisine is a combination of Lao-Thai specialities with a fusion of flavours and tasty delights. The traditional dishes have accents of aromatic herbs and coconut and are deliciously fragrant. Each night offers a different menu with 3 options of tasty meals to choose from. For those seeking a traditional food adventure, there is an option to dine with the local villagers in one of their homes; or enjoy a cookery course on traditional menus at the lodge.

The restaurant itself is on a large wooden deck overlooking the river but there are many secluded nooks and private alcoves to explore the transient dining options, whether dining on your private balcony, a corner in the gardens or on the small island facing the lodge.

Set in the tropical gardens, the properties 10 bedrooms are located in four separate wooden villas. Rooms have en-suite bathrooms and a private terrace overlooking the countryside, garden or river.

Rooms are furnished with local wood made by the expert local craftsmen of Oudom Xai giving a hallmark of originality to the lodge. Lao art pieces, paintings and sculptures add to the design along with colourful fabrics (all locally created) giving each room a unique identity and feel. The rooms each correspond with Laotian ethnic groups as a tribute to the varied culture of the country.
